What to expect in this course

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS COURSE?

Welcome to my mini workshop Painting Watery Dogs (and animals)

I designed this course to invite you to really engage with a sense of play around using watercolour and to discover with me how easy it is to let random ideas fall out of your subconscious into your paint!   You don't even need your little animals to look perfect. In fact the more kooky they are in my view the better and the more enjoyable they are. I love how these little characters just evolve out of nothing and slowly we see them come to life on the paper within seconds.  All you have to do is direct your imagination a little bit within the container of a subject. In this case we are choosing loose doggies!  You could apply this same method to any other animal.

The idea is it improves your powers of observation also.  You might feel inclined to start taking more notice (and making quick pen or watercolour sketches) of your pets now and again when you are just blobbing about the place.  You can later translate them onto your little paintings.

I really love doing these little critters because they don't need much space, and I have a ton of them in my sketch books.  Speaking of critters, we also play with this, and it brings back those wonderful memories of blowing paint through straws! Towards the end we just open up our gates of imagination and let the little monsters arrive as they will. Along the way I also show you some really quick exercises to strengthen up your observation muscles in a number of timed watercolour sketches designed to make you work faster and less fussy.  Watercolour is the perfect medium for these.

I will also take you through several exercises where you can paint your chosen animal in a little more life like rendition - for those wanting perfection!  And guess what? Its very very easy and again will take you just minutes instead of hours. I want you to enjoy these exercises and I believe you will find gateways open up for your own creative expressions in all sorts of ways once you get comfortable with me - using this method.

Remember if you want to, by all means post some of your results or even attempts at the bottom of the lessons. Nothing gives me more joy than seeing your unique creativity evolving out of what i teach you.  It absolutely thrills me, seriously, I get quite excited and even a bit teary!

So lets go…
